Spring is finally here – new green leaves along the banks of the River Derwent

Very busy day today (or was that yesterday now!). But had time for a stroll along the banks of the River Derwent after the big Activities Peak District and Derbyshire meeting, and spring is finally arriving with a bang! Green shoots everywhere, leaves erupting from branches barren and lifeless only a few days ago (was it really feeling like winter on Monday – it was over 20C in the strong bright sun today!), sunlight dancing through the curtain of newly-green trees on the river surface.

I really liked the way the backlit sun shining through this sycamore leaf gave a green and black semi-monochrome effect (no photoshop trickery here!) against the silky silver water in the background.
