I am sad to discover that the wonderful Butterfly cafe in New Mills (which features in my Peak District Top 10 Walks to Tea Shops book by Northern Eye) has become a zero-waste retail outlet and caterer’s with apartments above.
Not because there’s anything wrong with any of those – far from it, but because this was one of the quirkiest and charming cafes I have had the privilege to visit in a long while and was a very deserving entry in my Top 10 Peak District Cafes walking book. However, I hope the new businesses do well.
I am now on the hunt for a good replacement – there are other cafes in New Mills which may fit the bill, or this may be a time to find a new walk from another cafe. In the meantime, cafes exist in New Mills, just not the lovely quirky Butterfly Cafe!
