4.6.2011 Sadly this year the early purple orchids have just come at the wrong time for me. I had a look at Monksdale on Friday,and there are very few there at all,but those that remain are well past their best. Suspect they would have been at their peak while I was in Norway. Fingers crossed that next year they’re a bit less early!
Though as a slight benefit,I did find a very nice bumblebee sitting on a purple bugle flower –and it was even patient enough not to fly away before my macro lens could have a play!
12.5.2011 Like many of the bluebell woodlands,the early purple orchids seem to be out very early this year –one of my favourite locations is already well and truly in full bloom. I’m away in Norway and Spain for the next couple of weeks,but will reassess the locations when I get back –and all being well intend running a short photo-walk sometime during the week after Spring Bank Holiday.
