This morning, the winds are light – as usual for the morning. I venture out early to get a few pictures of the lake being as calm as a millpond – and get ferociously bitten by the local insect life for my trouble. And after most of the day had already gone, it was time for the serious business – taking the windsurfing photos that were the reason for coming to Cuesta del Viento in the first place! Sarah seems quite keen on photography, so although she’s not feeling fantasticly well after 3 nights of bus travels, decides [...] Discovered the cause of the problem where my images just wouldn’t attach themselves to a post – seems something in one of the plug-ins got corrupted. Reinstalled and reactivated ‘em all, and hopefully all now working again without havign broken something else in the process! Having arrived so late, the next morning, I didn’t feel like an early start. My bodyclock quite bizarrely seems to have completely overshot Argentinian time and ended up out towards the Galapagos Islands. Perhaps it’s wishful thinking! The bed had looked rather saggy in the mattress department last night, but actually was very comfortable. The [...] Now it was time to test my “driving on the right-hand side of the road” skills! Driving in Mendoza itself was quite scary – I knew the local rule that says you have to have your lights on at all times (or you get fined) but there seemed to be no rules for deciding right [...] First task of the day in Mendoza – to check out the local outdoor gear shops, and find the cheapest Doite gas canisters (they look to be the South American equivalent of EPI gas!). Prices ranged a fair bit – between 26 pesos and 30 pesos for the smaller 250g canister to between 42 pesos [...] Three flights in one go was a looooong way, but I reached Mendoza in Argentina eventually. The flight out from Heathrow to Sao Paolo was very uneventful – being a red-eye it was best just to try and sleep as much as possible to help the bodyclock adjust as much as it can. I´ve had enough! Of grey skies and dull winter days that is! With several exotic outdoors images required for various publications, I´ve headed off southwards for a bit. Quite a long way south in fact – I´ve gone to dodge icebergs and scarily cute penguins in Antarctica! My 2010 Landscape calendars “Derbyshire and Beyond” are selling well. I only had a very limited run (just 50!) printed this year to test the market with, but they’re all out in the shops now and so far are selling well.
